Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease: The Only System Scientifically Proven to Reverse Heart Disease Without Drugs or Surgery

Dr. Dean Ornish is the first clinician to offer documented proof that heart disease can be halted, or even reversed, simply by changing your lifestyle. Based on his internationally acclaimed scientific study, which has now been ongoing for years, Dr. Ornish's program has yielded amazing results. Participants reduced or discontinued medications; their chest pain diminished or disappeared; they felt more energetic, happy, and calm; they lost weight while eating more; and blockages in coronary arteries were actually reduced.

In his breakthrough book, Dr. Ornish presents this and other dramatic evidence and guides you, step-by-step, through the extraordinary Opening Your Heart program, which is winning landmark approval from America's health insurers. The program takes you beyond the purely physical side of health care to include the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects so vital to healing. This book represents the best modern medicine has to offer. It can inspire you to open your heart to a longer, better, happier life.

Reversed Lens Set Up

Reversed Lens Set Up

Super geekin!

Ok so this is my macro 'hack' setup. It's far from ideal and has serious limits AND is a bit fiddly to use but in the right parameters it can produce the goods for super close ups.

I already had the SB600 so it was a cheap setup.

First up I bought a cheap copy of the adapter tube off ebay and then had a mate take out a cm long section in the center so that the extended P&S lens would be almost pressing up against the reversed lens. Then I just superglued it back together! (gonna bust one day and whatever lens is on the end is going to eat the pavement!)

Then I got a 52-52 rversing ring from ebay and a 49-52 'step-up' ring to attach the reversed lens to. I made the mistake of getting a step down ring first off!

Then i just got a super cheap copy of the Nikon off camera flash cord and shes all go!

Basically you just zoom the P&S through the reversed lens about 2 inches away from ya target, then move in and out till it gets sharp, focus again if you like. I tend to just focus (it usually misses) then move in till it gets sharp...I told you it's a total hack! But it's cheap and it works.

Anyway, there's my setup. Kinda fun hunting down little beasts at home. pretty geaky tho!!! ;)

Extreme macro - Watch

Extreme macro - Watch

My first attempt at an extreme macro using a reverse lens method.

Anybody with a DSLR and a lens can do this:
1. Set up camera on a tripod.
2. Set shutter speed and ISO speed on camera.
3. Set the aperture on the lens to about f/4.0 or something around there, to make it look effective.
4. Take off lens.
5. Turn lens around, so that the front lens element is next to the camera, and the rear element is pointing out, you will have to hold it here.
6. Set the camera to live view mode.
7. Focus the lens, and leave it at a fixed focus, if you need to focus later on, just move the lens closer or further away from the camera.
8. Shoot away. It may take you time to get used to it, but once you get the focus right, it will be alright.

- Try using a remote shutter release so that you can hold the lens in one hand and the other hand away from you, not on the camera.
- Experiment a little, use different objects. Even the most common household object (the remote) can create a good subject.

Good luck if you decide to try it out, it is quite fun to do. I used the fixed flash on mine, with a peice of paper over the front, to diffuse it a lot. Then I turned it black and white because it looked better.
